Electronic Publishing in Würzburg:
academic publications
Any
member of the university of Würzburg can publish electronically his
academic work on the document server OPUS.
Publishing in electronic format offers a number of advantages:
- Your work is online available and in search engines such as Google findable.
- The university library guarantees the availability and permanent archiving of your publication as a free service.
How does it work?
1. Creation of a PDF file
Please convert your document from the original file format to PDF (Portable Document Format),
a cross platform format and the current standard for full texts in the Internet.
Please do not use special characters in your file name, and hold it as short as possible, for example
name.pdf.
Help to create a PDF can be found
here.
2. The publishing form and upload of the document in OPUS
You put your document on the Online Publication Server (OPUS) with the
publishing form:
> Select a document type > Create a form > filling in the fields.
Here you enter formal and substantive information about your publication, e.g. Title, Keywords, Abstract, etc.
Please note: all categories marked with a red diamond are mandatory and must be filled out.
Pay attention to
special characters and symbols.
The field classification is only relevant for a few subjects: Computer Science (CCS), Mathematics (MSC)
and Physics (PACS).
By filling in the fields you create the metadata, that describe your document in form and content
and ensure that your publication is worldwide searchable and findable.
If you have filled all required fields of the registration form, please click on "publish" and then
click the button "Next to the file upload". Now select your
PDF file and your original file(s)
with "Search" and upload by clicking the button "file(s) to the full text server".
3. Submission of the author contract
Before activating your document in OPUS, we need your declaration of consent for the publication:
please send us the filled and signed
author contract.
Address: Universitätsbibliothek, Hochschulschriften, Am Hubland, D-97074 Würzburg
E-Mail: opus@bibliothek.uni-wuerzburg.de
Fax: 0931/31-85911 or 0931/31-85970
Activation
When we have your declaration of consent, your publication will be turned free in OPUS
and thus we make it available worldwide. For an optimal indexing of your work we add
your metadata with appropriate keywords of the subject authority file.
Further information on electronic publishing you will find in the
FAQ.
