N2  - Im Vergleich zu anderen europäischen und nicht-europäischen Ländern steht die pädiatrische Palliativversorgung in Deutschland noch am Anfang. Es besteht weiterhin ein dringlicher Bedarf an Forschung, fehlen Instrumente der Qualitätskontrolle wie Leitlinien und vor allem eine geregelte Finanzierung. Aktuell sind die ersten überregionalen Organisationsstrukturen entstanden, um die Entwicklung auf diesem Gebiet voranzutreiben. Dennoch wird an vielen Kliniken Deutschlands bereits gute und segensreiche Arbeit für sterbende Kinder und ihre Familien geleistet. Nach einer Zusammenfassung von Grundlagen der pädiatrischen Palliativmedizin sowie einer kurzen Darstellung der aktuellen Situation in Deutschland wird die Palliativversorgung an der Universitäts-Kinderklinik in Würzburg beschrieben. Die Ergebnisse eines Pilotprojektes zur häuslichen Palliativversorgung krebskranker Kinder in den Jahren von 2004 bis 2006 zeigen, dass über 85% der Kinder bis zu ihrem Tod zu Hause versorgt werden konnten. Neben der Beschreibung und Diskussion der bisherigen Arbeit im Pilotprojekt werden die Voraussetzungen für die Entwicklung eines spezialisierten pädiatrischen Palliative Care Teams aufgezeigt.
N2  - Compared with other European und non-European countries, pediatric palliative care in Germany is still in its infancy. There is still an urgent need for research; quality control instruments such as guidelines are lacking and, in particular, no regular funding exists. The first nationwide organizational structures have only recently been put in place in order to promote development in this area. Nonetheless, good and beneficial work is already being provided for dying children and their families in many hospitals in Germany. A summary of the basics of pediatric palliative care and a brief outline of the current state of affairs in Germany is followed by a description of palliative care at the Wuerzburg University Pediatric Hospital. The results of a pilot project providing out-patient palliative care for children with cancer carried out between 2004 and 2006 show that more than 85% of the children were able to stay at home until death. In addition to the description and discussion of the work of the pilot project to date, the requirements for development of a specialized pediatric palliative care team are identified.
