Geochemically these metabasites are similar to the amphibolites of the Myto area and to schistose, partly striped amphibolites of the neighbouring Tirschenreuth-M{\"a}hring Zone and the Erbendorf-Vohenstrauss Zone (Bavaria). Greenschists and amphibolites from the Domazlice metamorphic complex show an alkaline-basaltic tendency conforming to modern within-plate basalts or basalts from anomalaus midocean ridge segments. In their chemical character, these metabasites compare weil with the flaseramphibolites of the Erbendorf-Vohenstrauss Zone. Fine-grained amphibolites in the Warzenrieth area and (gabbro-) amphibolites in the Bl{\"a}tterberg-Hoher Bogen area show normal MORB character. The metamorphosed gabbroic rocks in the southern part of the Neukirchen-Kdyne (meta-) igneous complex are subalkaline - tholeiitic and exhibit a magmatic differentiation trend. They differ from the neighbouring amphibolites by generally lower contents of incompatible elements.},

  abstract  = {Fertility was a key theme of medieval rulership. To conceive and give birth to sons - and thus to ensure the succession to the throne - was one of the foremost duties of medieval kings and queens. But what happened when a male child died in infancy, no male child was born, or no pregnancy ever came about? Barrenness could have dramatic consequences in the Middle Ages, for example expulsion, divorce or conflicts over royal succession. Against this historical background, it seems logical that the fate of the childless ruler would be recounted in the form of a 'Passion narrative'. In the German literature of the Middle Ages, however, there are also interpretative models of a contrary vein to be found. In the year 1220, for instance, Ebernand of Erfurt construed the wedded life of the imperial couple Henry and Kunigunde as a tale of resistance against the royal obligation to reproduce. In his versified legend, composed in the vernacular, the couple secretly agrees not to fulfil society's expectations, but to lead a chaste marriage. Yet above and beyond legend, childless rulers were also subject to the impact of multifarious legal, religious, medical, narrative and discursive factors. Taking Michel Foucault as a point of departure, this contribution shows how fertility became a field of power on which hierarchies between rulers and subjects, men and women were negotiated, while also shedding light on how religious and secular ideals clashed in the assessment of infertility.},

These nuclei contain large aggregates of nucleolar subunits in which fibril-covered regions, the putative active cistrons for precursors of ribosomal RNA, alternate with fibril-free intercepts, the "spacers". The length distribution of the different intercepts of this DNA is given, and the pattern is compared with those shown in animal cell systems. The data are discussed in relation to problems of transcription and of amplification of ribosomal RNA genes.},

  abstract  = {In this paper, we bridge the gap between procedural content generation (PCG) and user-generated content (UGC) by proposing and demonstrating an interactive agent-based model of self-assembling ensembles that can be directed though user input. We motivate these efforts by considering the opportunities technology provides to pursue game designs based on according game design frameworks. We present three different use cases of the proposed model that emphasize its potential to (1) self-assemble into predefined 3D graphical assets, (2) define new structures in the context of virtual environments by self-assembling layers on the surfaces of arbitrary 3D objects, and (3) allow novel structures to self-assemble only considering the model's configuration and no external dependencies. To address the performance restrictions in computer games, we realized the prototypical model implementation by means of an efficient entity component system (ECS). We conclude the paper with an outlook on future steps to further explore novel interactive, dynamic PCG mechanics and to ensure their efficiency.},

Induction ofmAHH was obtained after phenobarbitone treatment (180\% of control), which increased DNA binding to 210\%, but left the nAHH unchanged. mAHH and nAHH were slightly indilced with dieldrin (130\% and 120\%), but the binding remairred unchanged. The increasing effect of mAHlt as weil as the possibly decreasing effect of nAHH induction on the binding became obvious when the data of 11 individual rats were used to solve the equation Binding = aX(mAHH) + bX(nAHH) + c. Multiple linear regression analysis resulted in positive values for a and c, a negative value for b, and a multiple correlation coefficient R = 0.82. An influence of other enzymes involved in the metabolism of benzo(a)pyrene cannot be excluded. The Study shows clearly that the binding of a foreign compound to DNA in vivo is not only dependent on microsomal enzyme activities but also on nuclear activities even if the latter are considerably lower than those of mic'rosomes.},

  abstract  = {Einleitung: Die linksventrikul{\"a}re diastolische Dysfunktion (LVDD) ist bei Diabetikern noch vor Entwicklung einer klinisch apparenten Herzinsuffizienz eines der ersten Anzeichen einer kardialen Beteiligung. Daher soll in dieser Studie untersucht werden, ob die LVDD mit ECG-gated F-18-FDG PET in einem Diabetes-Rattenmodell dargestellt werden kann. Methodik: Es wurden F-18-FDG PET Scans in einem Typ-2-Diabetes Rattenmodell (ZDF fa/fa, n=6) und in ZL Kontrollen (n=6) vorgenommen (Alter, jeweils 13 Wochen). Unter Hyperinsulinemic-Euglycemic Clamp-Technik wurden 37 MBq 18F-FDG {\"u}ber die Schwanzvene appliziert. 15-35 Minuten nach Tracergabe wurden mittels eines Kleintier-PET-Scanners sowie unter EKG-Ableitung PET Scans angefertigt (16 frames/cardiac cycle). Die linksventrikul{\"a}re Ejektionsfraktion (EF) und die Peak F{\"u}llrate (PFR) wurden mittels einer geeigneten Software (Heart Function View) gemessen, wobei die Software an die Gr{\"o}ße des Rattenherzes angepasst wurde. Ergebnisse: Im Alter von 13 Wochen entwickeln ZDF Diabetes-Ratten eine im Vergleich zu Kontrolltieren eine signifikante myokardiale Hypertrophie, best{\"a}tigt durch post-mortem Analyse des Herzgewichtes (994±78mg vs. 871±44mg in ZDF Diabetes-Ratten vs. ZL Kontrollen, p<0.01). ECG-gated PET zeigte eine signifikante Abnahme der LV diastolischen PFR (10.4±0.5 vs. 11.8±0.4 EDV/sec in ZDF Diabetes-Ratten vs. ZL Kontrollen, p<0.001), jedoch zeigte sich kein signifikanter Unterschied zwischen LVEF und der Herzfrequenz in den untersuchten ZDF Diabetes-Ratten und Kontrollen (LVEF: 60.0±4.5 vs. 63.7±4.1\%, n.s. und HR: 305±25 vs. 323±24 bpm, n.s.). Schlussfolgerung: Im Diabetes-Ratten-Modell kann unter Verwendung eines ECG-gated FDG-PET Protokolls die diastolische Dysfunktion als Parameter der fr{\"u}hen diabetischen Kardiomyopathie nachgewiesen werden.},

  abstract  = {Introduction: The prognosis of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) is poor using common chemotherapeutic approaches. However, during the last years encouraging results of recently introduced tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) such as vandetanib have been published. In this study we aimed to correlate the results of \(^{18}\)F-fluorodeoxyglucose ([\(^{18}\)F]FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) imaging with treatment outcome. Methods: Eighteen patients after thyroidectomy with recurrent/advanced MTC lesions receiving vandetanib (300 mg orally/day) could be analysed. A baseline \(^{18}\)F-FDG PET prior to and a follow-up \(^{18}\)F-FDG PET 3 months after TKI initiation were performed. During follow-up, tumor progression was assessed every 3 months including computed tomography according to RECIST. Progression-free survival (PFS) was correlated with the maximum standardized uptake value of \(^{18}\)F-FDG in lymph nodes (SUV(LN)max) or visceral metastases (SUV(MTS)max) as well as with clinical parameters using ROC analysis. Results: Within median 3.6 years of follow-up, 9 patients showed disease progression at median 8.5 months after TKI initiation. An elevated glucose consumption assessed by baseline \(^{18}\)F-FDG PET (SUV(LN)max > 7.25) could predict a shorter PFS (2 y) with an accuracy of 76.5\% (SUV(LN)max <7.25, 4.3 y; p=0.03). Accordingly, preserved tumor metabolism in the follow-up PET (SUV(MTS)max >2.7) also demonstrated an unfavorable prognosis (accuracy, 85.7\%). On the other hand, none of the clinical parameters reached significance in response prediction. Conclusions: In patients with advanced and progressive MTC, tumors with higher metabolic activity at baseline are more aggressive and more prone to progression as reflected by a shorter PFS; they should be monitored more closely. Preserved glucose consumption 3 months after treatment initiation was also related to poorer prognosis.},

  abstract  = {Im Fokus der Tagung standen verschiedene Formen der Gewalt in ihrer Bindung an soziale Strukturen von der Steinzeit bis in das fr{\"u}he Mittelalter. Die Beitr{\"a}ge blieben nicht auf das Thema Krieg beschr{\"a}nkt, das auch bereits Gegenstand einiger anderer Symposien war, sondern versuchten vielmehr, unterschiedliche Gewaltformen und Ebenen in ihrem gesellschaftlichen und kulturgeschichtlichen Kontext zu differenzieren. Da die meisten bisherigen Untersuchungen zu Gewalt und Krieg auf einzelne Epochen und Regionen bezogen sind, war ein Ziel der Tagung, eine diachrone und {\"u}berregionale Betrachtungsweise anzuregen. Ein weiteres Hauptanliegen war die F{\"o}rderung des interdisziplin{\"a}ren Dialogs zwischen Arch{\"a}ologie und Anthropologie. In vielen Beitr{\"a}gen wurde die nach wie vor h{\"a}ufig anzutreffende Gleichsetzung von Gewalt und Krieg kritisch hinterfragt und stattdessen deutlich gemacht, dass Gewalt in vielf{\"a}ltiger Form auch außerhalb des Kontexts kriegerischer Handlungen in mehr oder weniger „allt{\"a}glichen" Situationen auftritt. Problematisch stellten sich dabei zun{\"a}chst die verschiedenen divergierenden Definitionen des Gewaltbegriffs in unterschiedlichen Forschungstraditionen dar, ihre Gegen{\"u}berstellung f{\"u}hrte aber schließlich zu einer ausgesprochen fruchtbaren Diskussion. Ein wichtiges Fazit der Tagung ist, dass lineare Modelle zur Entwicklung der Gewalt in der Menschheitsgeschichte viel zu vereinfachend sind und einer differenzierten Betrachtung der Quellen weichen m{\"u}ssen. Gewalt f{\"u}gt sich in kein einfaches evolutives Schema, sondern ist als kulturelles Ph{\"a}nomen Bestandteil gesellschaftlicher Prozesse. Sie muss in ihrem jeweiligen kulturhistorischen Kontext betrachtet und verstanden werden. Die im Rahmen des Symposiums pr{\"a}sentierten Fallbeispiele zeigten vielversprechende Ans{\"a}tze hierzu auf. Eine Herausforderung f{\"u}r die Arch{\"a}ologie wird es jedoch sein, ein differenzierteres Bild der Vergangenheit auch interdisziplin{\"a}r zu kommunizieren und gegen die nach wie vor dominanten, zur {\"U}bersimplifizierung neigenden Modelle im sozial- und kulturwissenschaftlichen Diskurs zu positionieren. Die Tagung „Gewalt und Gesellschaft" versteht sich als Beitrag zur Weiterentwicklung tragf{\"a}higer arch{\"a}ologischer und anthropologischer Grundlagen f{\"u}r einen zuk{\"u}nftigen fundierten Dialog.},

  abstract  = {Vom 18. bis 20. November 2016 fand im Kloster Windberg bei Straubing zum zweiten Mal nach 2014 eine Tagung unter dem Titel "Neue Materialien des Bayerischen Neolithikums" statt. Dabei wurden neue, bislang unpublizierte Fundkomplexe vorgestellt und diskutiert, die alle Phasen der Jungsteinzeit vom Altneolithikum bis zum Endneolithikum abdeckten und die aus verschiedenen Landesteilen des Freistaats Bayern sowie aus dem benachbarten Oberschwaben stammten.
