N2  - Scientific research is a process concerned with the creation, collective accumulation, contextualization, updating and maintenance of knowledge. Wikis provide an environment that allows to collectively accumulate, contextualize, update and maintain knowledge in a coherent and transparent fashion. Here, we examine the potential of wikis as platforms for scholarly publishing. In the hope to stimulate further discussion, the article itself was drafted on Species-ID – a wiki that hosts a prototype for wiki-based scholarly publishing – where it can be updated, expanded or otherwise improved.

Der Beitrag stellt das Institutional Repository "OPUS Würzburg" vor, das seit 2002 den Angehörigen der Universität als Publikationsserver nach den Grundsätzen des Open Access zur Verfügung steht, und beschreibt insbesondere das Projekt "Pub95" zur Zweitveröffentlichung von Publikationen, die vor 1995 erschienen sind.
N2  - The University Library of Würzburg supports both the green and the golden road of open access publishing. The article introduces the institutional repository "OPUS Würzburg" which has been available to the university's members as publication server according to open access principles since 2002, and descibes especially the project "Pub95" for the re-publication of articles, chapters or books issued before 1995.
