N2  - Die Regelungen des§ 828 BGB zur zivilrechtlichen Verantwortlichkeit Minderjähriger für unerlaubte Handlungen, z. B. Brandlegungen, konstatieren zwei Kompetenzen: Unrechtserkenntnis und Vergeltungspflichtverständnis. Im Sachverständigenbeweis kann ein Minderjähriger befreit werden von der Haftung. Die Rechtsprechung unterstellt: Unrechtserkenntnis enthebt des Nachweises des Vergeltungspflichtverständnisses. Daher ist, de lege ferenda, die Altersgrenze vom vollendeten siebenten Lebensjahr durch diesbezügliche Entwicklungsvorgänge zu stützen. Außerdem sind, de lege lata, geeignete Methoden für die individuelle Erfassung der Kompetenzen bereitzustellen. Mit Hilfe quantitativer Beurteilungen von faktoriell aus Schadenshöhe-, Verschulden- und Entschuldigung-Informationen zusammengesetzten Geschichten und von IQ-Subtests werden die Resultate einer empirischen Studie berichtet, die die impliziten und expliziten gesetzlichen Annahmen stützten und die psychometrisch fundierte Methoden zur individuellen Erfassung der beiden Kompetenzen bereitstellten. Fehlende Korrelationen zwischen IQ-Maßen und moralischen Urteilen zeigten, daß sich die Erfassung der erforderlichen Kompetenzen nicht durch IQ-Subtests ersetzen ließe.
N2  - In German civillaw, children's liability for arson, as for other torts, rests on the preassumption that the individual child has two competencies: knowledge of right and wrong when doing the harm and some understanding of the duty to make recompense for the harm. By an expertise proof of incompetency a minor may be exempted from damages. As a rule, existing rigbt-wrongknowledge proves the understanding of the repair-duty. De lege ferenda, the age Iimit of seven years ought to be based on at least some feature of the developments of the relevant concepts. De lege lata, methods for the assessment of an individual's competencies are needed. Using quantitative judgments on factorial (damage x culpa x apology information) ftre-setting stories as well as other methods (e. g. IQ-subtests) the results of an original empirical study are reported which were (a) in support of the implicit and explicit legal preassumptions about minor's competencies relevant for their liability, and (b) provided psychometrically based tools for the individual diagnoses of the distinctive appreciations of the right-wrong-knowledge and of the understanding of the repair-duty. The lack of correlations of judgments and intelligence subtests showed that the capacity assessment cannot be replaced by intelligence testing.

N2  - Die Ergebnisse einer publizierten Arbeit zur Validierung von acht Konfigurationen generalisierter Kontrollüberzeugungen werden durch drei weitere Auswertungsschritte ergänzt. Die Anwendung der Interaktionsstrukturanalyse führt zu einer Hervorhebung von zwei Konfigurationen als Typen und zur Aufstellung einer 5-Gruppen-Hypothese über die Bildung einer Restgruppe aus den Neutral-Konfigurationen. Die Betrachtung der Unterschiede in den FPI-Mittelwerten der ursprünglichen acht Gruppen bestätigt die 5-Gruppen-Hypothese. Mit einer multidimensionalen geometrischen Darstellung der Profildistanzen wird in einem dritten Schritt versucht, neben der "Restgruppe" und den beiden "Typen"-Gruppen auch die Eigenständigkeit der beiden verbleibenden "Anti-Typen"-Gruppen zu validieren.
N2  - The results of a priorly published study on the validity of eight configurations of generalized locus of control cognitions were analysed more intensively by three additional steps. The first step, application of the interaction-structure-analysis, supported the result of two configurations to be named as "Types" and yielded the derivation of a "restgroup"-hypothesis by their smaller profile differences in a personality inventory. Multidimensional scaling was applied as a third step to confirm the distinctiveness of the two remaining "Anti-Type"-configurations aside from the "restgroup" and the two "Type"-configurations.

N2  - Two groups of mentally retarded individuals whose averagemental age was either seven orten years, although being chronologically at least 18 years old, judged how bad "thefts" of two amounts of bon-bons appeared to them. The scimulus stories also informed the subjects whether the thief did or did not apologize afterwards or whether a third party did or did not compensate for tbe losses. Apology affecred tbe moral judgments twice as much as third-pany compensation, independeotly of the mental age of the subjects. Thus, with the mental age variation the age trend found in a prior srudy with normally gifted was not replicated. lnstead, even with an average mental age of seven years the retarded judged similarly to the adults and 10-year-olds of the prior study. However, the retarded were like the preschool children of the prior study as their judgments about the intended taking of cookies did not differ from their judgments about inadvenantly taking cookies.

Monopolar Depressive (DSMIII- R; MD) zeigten oft Leukoaraiose, Infarkte waren mit MD, Kontusionen und frühkindliche Schäden mit bipolarer Erkrankung assoziiert (BP; ANCOV A, p< .1). Kortikale Läsionen waren bei BP häufiger, jedoch fehlten signifikante Effekte von Läsionsort oder -zeitpunkt auf die Polarität der Erkrankung (ANOV A). Bei einigen Infarktpatienten kam es zur Verlaufsänderung (Chronifizierung, Bipolarität) nach Infarkt, alle Post-Infarkt-Ersterkrankungen waren bipolar.
N2  - 46 patients with affective disorder and a pathologic CT scan were studied (infarct: 22, brain trauma: 6, leukoaraiosis: 11 , perinatal brain damage: 7). Unipolar depressives (DSM-I1I-R; MD) frequently had le ukoaraiosis, brain infarct was associated with unipolar depression , brain trauma and perinatal damage with bipolar illness (BP; ANCOV A , p < .1). Corticallesions were more frequ ent in BP, but ANOV A revealed no significant effect of lesion location and time of insu lt on illness polarity. In some patients with stroke course of illness changed (Ionger phases, bipolarity), first onset post-stroke went along with bipolar illness.

T1  - Morphological alterations of lymph nodes and thymus during the early course of SIV infection of rhesus monkeys
N2  - Rhesus monkeys (M. mulatta) were i.v. infected with SIV mac251. Three phases of lymph node changes were observed. 1: physiological follicular hyperplasia (3 and 6 weeks p.i.). 2: Alterations of germinal centers: loss of follicular mande zone, fragmentation or sclerosis (12 and 24 weeks p.i.). 3: Partial depletion of T-lymphocytes, accumulation of plasma cells, increased numbers of syncytial giant cells, hemophgocytosis in the sinuses (ab out 1 year p.i.). The thymus of the juvenile animals showed first changes 12 and 24 weeks after infection with focalloss of immature (and Ki-67 positive) cortical thymocytes, leading to severe accidental involution of the thymuses one year after infection and reduced numbers of Hassalls corpuscles. These investigations show the value of this animal model for the study of morphology and pathogenesis of AIDS.

N2  - Given the absence of any demonstrable organic reason for non~ulcer dyspepsia. and the weil known fact, that the psyche inOuences stomach function, it is widely held, that psychological factors cause NUD. To now, studies are concerned with the psychopathology and personality of NUDpatients, their illness behaviour, and with the relation between stress and abdominal pain. A critical review of these studies revea1ed, that among the psycho1ogical variables majnly anxiety and illness behaviour seems to playa central role in NUD. However. future studjes should focus more on the distinction towards other funcüonal disorders and on the djfferentation within the heterogeneous group of NUD~ patients (especially with regard to physiological variables). Besides this, it seems rewarding to examine the so far seienlifidy neglected group of subjects with abdomina] pain, who do not contact a physician.
N2  - Da organische Ursachen für die Non-Ulcer Dyspepsia nicht nachweisbar sind und außerdem bekannt ist, daß die Psyche einen wichtigen Einfluß auf die Magenfu nktion hat. werden häufig psychologische Faktoren als Ursache der NUD angesehen. Bisher liegen empirische Arbeiten über die Psychopathologie und Persönlichkeitsstruktur der NUD-Patienten. deren Krankheitsverhalten sowie über den Zusammenhang zwischen Streß und Magenbeschwerden vor. Eine kritische Sichtung dieser Arbeiten ergab, daß umer den psychologischen Variablen die Angst und das Krankheitsverhalten der NUD-Patienten eine besondere Rolle zu spielen scheinen. In zukünftigen Studien sollte außerdem mehr als bisher auf die Abgrenzung gegenüber anderen funktionellen Störungsbildern und auf eine bessere Differenzierung (u. a. hinsichtlich physiologischer Funktionsveränderungen) innerhalb der heterogenen Gruppe der NUD-Patienten geachtet werden. Lohnenswert erscheint es auch, die bisher noch gar nicht untersuchten Personen mit Magenbeschwerden, aber ohne Arztkomakt. genauer psychologisch zu untersuchen.

N2  - The determination of a covalent binding of radioactive chemieals to DNA in intact mammalian organisms is proposedas a short-term test for carcinogenicity. The effectiveness of covalent binding to rat liver DNA correlates well with the hepatocarcinogenicity known from long-term bioassays. The binding indices range over more than five orders of rriagnitude between the strongest hepatocarcinogen aflatoxin B 1 and the limit of detection of a binding with 100 f-LCi 14C-labelled chemical. The order of magnitude of binding is therefore a surprisingly good quantitative measure for carcinogenicity. The pattern of DNA binding sites is important especially for small alkylating agents where the determination of total binding might indicate a higher carcinogenic potency than is actually observed.

N2  - Ich habe versucht darzulegen, daß mechanistische Überlegungen zur Extrapolation der Dosis-WirkungsBeziehung herangezogen werden können. Ein nichtlinearer Verlauf ist nicht nur bei den epigenetischen Kanzerogenen wahrscheinlich, sondern auch bei den DNA-bindenden. Echte Schwellen sind aber nur in solchen Fällen zu erwarten, wo kein endogenes Korrelat besteht. Immerhin können auch steile Nichtlinearitäten zu einer drastischen Risikoreduktion führen, so daß die Anstrengungen dahin gehen sollten, die Steigung und den Bereich des überproportionalen Abfalls experimentell zu zeigen. In einer heterogenen Population kann die 0 0- sis-Wirkungs-Kurve zusätzliche "Wellen" bekommen und wird dadurch grundsätzlich flacher. Im Extremfall ergibt sich eine lineare Dosis-Wirkungs-Beziehung unabhängig vom Wirkmechanismus des Kanzerogens. Diese Proportionalität zwischen tiefster Dosis und Effekt wird bei genotoxischen Kanzerogenen aus mechanistischen Gründen schon für eine homogene Population postuliert, doch kann dies in einer heterogenen Population auch bei epigenetischen Kanzerogenen in Frage kommen.

N2  - We study problems that arise in the context of covering certain geometric objects called seeds (e.g., points or disks) by a set of other geometric objects called cover (e.g., a set of disks or homothetic triangles). We insist that the interiors of the seeds and the cover elements are pairwise disjoint, respectively, but they can touch. We call the contact graph of a cover a cover contact graph (CCG). We are interested in three types of tasks, both in the general case and in the special case of seeds on a line: (a) deciding whether a given seed set has a connected CCG, (b) deciding whether a given graph has a realization as a CCG on a given seed set, and (c) bounding the sizes of certain classes of CCG’s. Concerning (a) we give efficient algorithms for the case that seeds are points and show that the problem becomes hard if seeds and covers are disks. Concerning (b) we show that this problem is hard even for point seeds and disk covers (given a fixed correspondence between graph vertices and seeds). Concerning (c) we obtain upper and lower bounds on the number of CCG’s for point seeds.
