Ein wichtiges Instrument zur Förderung von Lernautonomie beim lebenslangen Sprachenlernen N2 - Das webbasierte elektronische Portfolio der Sprachen epos, das der Bremer Sprachenrat verantwortet, ist ein Instrument des lebenslangen Sprachenlernens. Es enthält neben allen Elementen eines Papierportfolios einige Features, die es besonders zur Förderung der Lernautonomie geeignet werden lässt. Dazu gehört, dass es der oder dem Lernenden überlassen ist, ob er oder sie seine Sprachenbiographie einem Tutor oder einer Tutorin gegenüber offenbart und sie oder ihn zum Kommentar auffordert. Auch Produkte des Sprachenlernens, welche im Dossier abgelegt werden, können dem Tutor oder der Tutorin gegenüber zum Zweck der Kommentierung offenbart werden – so erweitert sich epos zur Lernplattform, die für Blended E-Learning nutzbar ist. Die Rolle der Tutorinnen und Tutoren wandelt sich vom Instruktor zum Moderator von Lernprozessen – zugleich verändert sich der Unterricht durch Orientierung auf Produkte hin zum aufgabenorientierten Lernen. Die Einbindung in Konzepte von formativer Leistungsbewertung ist weiter zu entwickeln. N2 - The web based electronic portfolio of languages epos is an instrument of lifelong language learning. It has been developed by the Bremen Sprachenrat (language council). It contains all elements of a paper based portfolio. Some additional features make it suitable to further learner’s autonomy. Epos leaves it to the learner to show his or her language biography to the tutor and ask him or her to comment on it. Products of language learning processes are stored in the dossier and can also be shown to the tutor in order to make him or her comment on it. Thus epos changes into a platform which can be used for blended e-learning. The roles of tutors change from instructing to moderating processes of language learning. By concentrating on the dossier lessons are transformed from emphasis on teaching to emphasis on task-based learning. Connections to concepts of formative assessment still have to be strengthened. More specifically, the new normal might encompass online education we are getting used to during the pandemic and the age-old onsite education as well. Thoughtfully integrated, online and onsite learning combine to create blended learning. However, the pertinent literature reveals that English as a foreign language (EFL) students and teachers differently perceive and react to blended learning in diverse contexts. This study was designed to explore student and teacher perceptions of and reactions to blended learning in the Department of English, Jahangirnagar University in the new normal. Fifty undergraduates of EFL and eight teachers of the department participated in the study. To collect data from them, the Student Questionnaire and the Teacher Questionnaire were used. And the data were processed by applying the SPSS programme module. The findings revealed that the majority of the students and the teachers had mostly positive perceptions of blended learning, although the former did not have sufficient exposure to online learning and the latter lacked adequate insights into online teaching. Further, both the students and the teachers expressed mostly positive reactions to blended learning in the new normal, though the former deemed online examinations inadequately smooth and reliable, and the latter had insufficient experience of online instruction and assessment. The study categorically recommends reforming the curriculum, adopting relevant instructional strategies, developing suitable materials, customizing the assessment, integrating and installing technology, training the teachers, upskilling the students for blended learning, improving the infrastructure, and adjusting the management. However, staff and students value hands-on activities during medical device training. In a blended learning approach, we examined whether using a syringe pump while conducting an e-Learning program improves the procedural skills needed to operate the pump compared to using the e-Learning program only. In two experiments, the e-Learning only group learned using only the e-Learning program. The e-Learning + hands-on group was instructed to use a syringe pump during the e-Learning to repeat the presented content (section “Experiment 1”) or to alternate between learning on the e-Learning program and applying the learned content using the pump (section “Experiment 2”). We conducted a skills test, a knowledge test, and assessed confidence in using the pump immediately after learning and two weeks later. Simply repeating the content (section “Experiment 1”) did not improve performance of e-Learning + hands-on compared with e-Learning only. The instructed learning process (section “Experiment 1”) resulted in significantly better skills test performance for e-Learning + hands-on compared to the e-Learning only. Only a structured learning process based on multi-media learning principles and memory research improved procedural skills in relation to operating a medical device.
