TY - THES A1 - Neuberth, Ralph T1 - Demokratie im Volk Gottes? Untersuchungen zur Apostelgeschichte T1 - Democracy in the People of God? N2 - Under the question, how the early christian church dealt with power, relevant passages from the Acts of the Apostles (Acts) are exegetically analysed in this thesis: the transfer of power within the election of the Hellenistic Seven (Act 6:1-7); the empowering commission of Barnabas and Saul by the Antiochian christian community (Act 13:1-3); the common practising of power in the Jerusalem assembly (Act 15:1-41); finally the last will of Paul, given in his farewell address at Milet (Act 20:17-38). In doing so, synchronous methods (following the narrative analysing-methods of G. Genette and S. Rimmon-Kenan) and the classic instruments of the historical criticism complete one another. Some Sideglances are able to point out the analogies - especially emphasized by Luke - between the life of the early christian communities and other organisations in their contemporary environment (e.g. associations or the Jewish synagogue). Following the theory of power, given by H. Arendt, the results from the analysis of Acts are interpreted as a testimony for the consciousness of the common power of all members in the people of God, which is expressed in democratical forms of organizing. Based upon the fundamental rights of all christians - freedom, equality an brotherhood -, as the New Testament proofs them, basics for a democratic reform of the catholic church are finally presented. Eine pastoraltheologische Untersuchung der Bedeutung des Dialogs in Nigeria aufgrund von Erfahrungen in Igboland N2 - The Church is mandated by Jesus Christ to continue the mission for which he was sent into the world. The mission of Christ, which consists in “bringing the good news to the poor, proclaiming liberty to captives, restoring sight to the blind, setting the downtrodden free and the proclamation of the Lord’s year of favour” , remains the fundamental basis of the missionary and evangelising vocation of the Church. She has a message to proclaim and that message is the proclamation of making the kingdom of God present in the lives of the people. Through the ages the Church has responded to this command of the Lord to evangelise, using various methods according to different situations and times. Dialogue is a conditio sine qua non in the Church’s evangelisation. By con-voking the Second Vatican Council, Pope John gave special attention to the Church’s self-knowledge, that is the knowledge of her nature and vocation as well as the realisation of the necessity of dialogue in the Church’s pursuit of Church unity and healthy relationships with non-Christian religions and bod-ies. Besides the emphases on the importance of dialogue in the Church’s exe-cution of her mission and apostolate of building up the people of God, evi-dence from the human sciences portray the indispensable and invaluable roles of dialogue and communication in a globalised world. N2 - To explain the sustainability and the universality of the phenomenon of religion as is seen in human history and culture, this dissertation searches for an intrinsic connection between this phenomenon and the nature of the human being. The enquiry begins with the analysis of the concept “religion” and continues with a brief existential-anthropological exploration of the nature of the human being, projecting his experience of lack of being and his desire to be, which reflect mostly in the question of meaning as the ultimate reason behind his practice of religion. The discourse explains the designation of the human being as “homo religiosus” as referring to his religious capability (his ability to practice religion) and to the religious nature of the question of meaning, which is intrinsic to human nature. The modern African Communities have witnessed man’s growing capacity for environmental transformative intervention. The aspect of the conquest and exploitation of resources in rural communities such as in the Niger Delta of Nigeria has become predominant and invasive, and has even reached the point of threatening the environment’s hospitable function: the environment only as resource risks threatening the environment as home. In this respect, the ethical judgement of the social realities on ground is very decisive. And this is the very important aspect where the Catholic Social Ethics has a role to play. Because of the environmental crisis in this region through technological advancement, there is urgent need for a balance through the introduction of the model of a sustainable development. The socio-ethical model of sustainability in this work is a framework so constructed that women, men, families and communities in the Niger Delta are to be the agents which determine what their developmental strategies are. Although their developmental opportunities and decisions are sometimes constrained by various factors, it remains the fact that they alone bear responsibility for their environment and must live with the consequences. So if sustainable development in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria is to extend beyond narrow technical understanding, it must one that generally seek to embrace the cultural and social systems of the people. This will go a long way in reducing dependency and increase self-empowerment and will place more value on what the people understand and practice. N2 - The present works intends to trace the development of the parish St. Laurentius in Kleinostheim in the Bavarian region of the lower Main river, addressing the period of approximately one hundred and fifty years of community history that spans between the reorganization of political and church structures after the secularization in the first decades of the 19th century, until the end of post war time in the 1960th; an analysis embedded in the context of church, political and social processes. Our research starts with the parish life on situ. The main focus concentrates on the devoutness of the community and their relationship with the environment. We chose a chronological procedure. After a review of the actual state of investigation and structural conditions, we first focus on parish life during the 19th century. Conspicuous for this period is an impressive capacity for persistency, while first changes are only apparent with the turn of the century and the rise of social democracy, as evidenced by the results of public elections. Particularly since the 1920th catholic parish community life in Kleinostheim underwent a process of intensification and concentration. But this rather brief time until the virtual disappearance of almost all catholic organizations during the dominance of national socialisms was probably too short to create stable milieu structures. Nevertheless, the mental and structural intensification of these few years played a decisive role in limiting the weight of national socialist ideology that, evidently, could not achieve the same level of influence in the community as was previously exerted by socialism. But much more problematic and increasingly difficult, if not impossible was maintaining and continuing of these structures in post war times. In spite of his undying efforts in the construction of a new church, in local politics and pastoral work, the late parish priest Josef Hepp was unable reedit his previous successes from the 1920th, and could not reverse the trend. But with his activities, the priest laid the foundation for today’s commitment and for the great significance of the church and church activities in the parish of Kleinostheim.
