- Schwerpunkt der Arbeit ist die empirische Untersuchung der Behandlung von Kiefergelenksankylosen mittels Transplantation des costochondralen Übergangs als Ersatz. Ankylosen beschreiben allgemein Gelenkversteifungen oder -verwachsungen und verringern im Falle des Kiefergelenks die maximale Mundöffnung teilweise erheblich. Falls konservative Benhandlungsmethoden keinen Erfolg haben, bleibt nur der chirurgische Eingriff. Dieser kann durch alloplastische Implantate oder autogene Transplantate erfolgen, zu denen auch der costochondrale ÜbergangSchwerpunkt der Arbeit ist die empirische Untersuchung der Behandlung von Kiefergelenksankylosen mittels Transplantation des costochondralen Übergangs als Ersatz. In einer Untersuchung von sechs Patienten, die mittels Transplantation eines costochondralen Übergangs behandelt worden waren, zeigte sich jedoch, dass die Behandlungsmethode einen langfristigen Therapieerfolg verspricht, da es nur bei einem Patienten zu einer Reankylosierung kam.…
- This thesis describes an empirical evaluation of treating the ankylosis of temporomandibular joints (TMJ) by means of engrafting costochondral joints. In general, ankylosis describes the stiffness or fusion of a joint, and a TMJ ankylosis can severely reduce the maximum diameter of the stoma. Surgical intervention is required if conservative therapies fail. The two main alternatives are alloplastic implants or autogenous transplants (e.g. costochondral joints).
