• Die vorliegende Studie beschäftigt sich mit Langzeitergebnissen der erstmalig von Clutton 1894 [8] beschriebenen Grosszehengrundgelenksarthrodese bei Hallux rigidus. Von 1986 bis 1999 wurden 65 Fälle des Hallux rigidus mit einer Arthrodese des Grosszehengrundgelenks therapiert. Von diesen konnten 34 Patienten nachuntersucht werden.
• Hallux rigidus stands for an osteoarthritis of the first metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint. 34 patients (38 joints) treated for hallux rigidus with an arthrodesis of the first MTP joint between 1989 and 1999 were reviewed. The average age of the patients at time of surgery was 52 years, the mean follow-up 54 months. At follow-up all patients were evaluated by clinical investigation and plain radiography using a standard protocol.
