• Untersucht wurde die adjuvante Therapie der schweren Sepsis bei Peritonitis durch imtravenöse Gabe von Taurolin alleine, Taurolin und Antibiotika, sowie Antibiotika alleine. Primärer Endpunkt war die Krankenhaus-Letalität. Es fand sich kein signifikanter Unterschied, jedoch eine nicht signifikante relative Risikoreduktion für die Kombinationsbehandlung gegenüber der alleinigen Antibiotika-Therapie. Taurolin alleine erscheint ungeeignet. Es gab zahlreiche Dropouts; die Patientenzahl war mit 35 sehr niedrig.
• We investigated the role of intravenous Taurolin alone, Tauroline combined with antibiotics, and antibiotics alone in the treatment of severe sepsis in peritonitis. In-hospital mortality was the primary endpoint.There was a non-significant trend towards a relative risk reduction with the combination as compared with antibiotics alone, but no significant differences. Taurolin alone seems to be inappropriate. There were numerous drop-outs and relatively few patients (35).
