- Human cerebral endothelial cells are able to produce chemokines after stimulation with proinflammatory cytokines. Chemokines have a pivotal role in inflammatory cns disorders. So cerebral endothelial cells seems to be another cell typ besides astrocytes and microglia, that synthesize these important molecules.
