- The results presented in this study support te idea that abscisic acid glucose ester (ABA-GE) can not be considered exclusively as a final metabolite of ABA. While stress conditions intensify the ABA-GE-concentration in the xylem, and the existance of ß-D-glucosidase activity in the leaf apoplast suggest that ABA-GE stabilises and intensifies the ABA long-distance signal.
