In part 4 (27 refs.), methods are outlined for spreading DNA and RNA molecules for electron microscopic observation, these methods using modifications of the basic protein film method developed by A. Kleinschmidt and R. K. Zahn (1959). Finally, the "Miller spreading technique" for visualizing the nucleosomal organization of eukaryotic chromatin as well as the transcription of genes is discribed and illustrated.show moreshow less
