  • The vicinal biscarbenoid bis(piperidyl)acetylene was used to prepare carbene adducts in addition to bond activations. In the first section, the focus is on the reactivity of acetylene towards 1,3-dipolar reagents. This led to bond activations due to the carbenoid properties of acetylene and to the formation of heterocyclic addition products. The second section deals with the preparation of carbene-borane adducts, which were compared and studied in detail based on their structural and spectroscopic parameters.
