The sensitivity of the clinical judgment in comparison with the histological diagnosis was 25%. As expected it is difficult to diagnose a maligne tumor only by the clinical judgment. In this study the facial paralysis was a safe indication for a maligne tumor. So, the sensitivity of the facial examination in comparison with the histological diagnosis was 6%. The sensitivity of the fine-needle aspiration cytology in comparison with the histological diagnosis was 73%. The fine-needle aspiration cytology has the highest sensitivity and is able to distinguish amoung parotid gland neoplasms.show moreshow less
