The contribution of hereditary variants in the genes of transient receptor potential channels to neuropathic pain is unknown. We investigated the frequency of transient receptor potential ankyrin 1, transient receptor potential melastin 8 and transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 single nucleotide polymorphisms and their impact on somatosensory abnormalities in neuropathic pain patients. Within the German Research Network on Neuropathic Pain (Deutscher Forscbungsverbund Neuropathischer Schmerz) 371 neuropathic pain patients were phenotypically characterized using standardized quantitative sensory testing. Pyrosequencing was employed to determine a total of eleven single nucleotide polymorphisms in transient receptor potential channel genes of the neuropathic pain patients and a cohort of 253 German healthy volunteers. Associations of quantitative sensory testing parameters and single nucleotide polymorphisms between and within groups and subgroups, based on sensory phenotypes, were analyzed. Single nucleotide polymorphisms frequencies did not differ between both the cohorts. However, in neuropathic pain patients transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 710G>A (rs920829, E179K) was associated with the presence of paradoxical heat sensation (p=0.03), and transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 1911A>G (rs8065080, I585V) with cold hypoalgesia (p=0.0035). Two main subgroups characterized by preserved (1) and impaired (2) sensory function were identified. In subgroup 1 transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 1911A>G led to significantly less heat hyperalgesia, pinprick hyperalgesia and mechanical hypaesthesia (p=0.006, p=0.005 and p<0.001) and transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 1103C>G (rs222747, M315I) to cold hypaesthesia (p=0.002), but there was absence of associations in subgroup 2. In this study we found no evidence that genetic variants of transient receptor potential channels are involved in the expression of neuropathic pain, but transient receptor potential channel polymorphisms contributed significantly to the somatosensory abnormalities of neuropathic pain patients. N2 - In the available work 450 patients from the neurootological department of the university HNO hospital in a computer data base were seized, from those a digital standing CCG sample and a digital stepping CCG sample were present in each case. Additionally the results of the other equilibriometric tests as well as the anamnesis data (standardized neurootological anamnesis NODEC III) with were considered. Apart from the investigation of the total collective we formed undercollectives for statistic evaluation concerning sex, age and CCG parameter. The individual results were then compared with one another in detail and represented descriptive in diagram form. At the end of the result part the typical individual cases (normal type, peripheral, central, combined disturbance) in a casuistic are demonstrated. In the discussion on topodiagnostic criteria as well as with the cranio-corpo-graphy as suited research method for the industrial medicine one dealt in detail. Became clear, that one should as often use the cranio-corpo-gram however as possible in combination together with the calorisation, since both procedures completely different equilibrium regularization systems test. The ratio of uncovering pathological behavior in different automatic control loops increases thus by a multiple. Further the neurootologic illnesses and their possible processes were described in detail. A comparison of our results with the patient collective of MARCONDES followed in the last section. In summary it becomes clear in this work, that the cranio-corpo-graphy has as simpler, easily feasible, objective equilibrium-test an important function as “filtertest” and thus a large contribution for the objectification and differentiation of neurootological disturbances supplies. A survey of different methods for body weight estimation based on depth sensors is given. First, an estimation of people standing in front of a camera is presented. Second, an approach based on a stream of depth images is used to obtain the body weight of a person walking towards a sensor. The algorithm first extracts features from a point cloud and forwards them to an artificial neural network (ANN) to obtain an estimation of body weight. Besides the algorithm for the estimation, this paper further presents an open-access dataset based on measurements from a trauma room in a hospital as well as data from visitors of a public event. In total, the dataset contains 439 measurements. The article illustrates the efficiency of the approach with experiments with persons lying down in a hospital, standing persons, and walking persons. Applicable scenarios for the presented algorithm are body weight-related dosing of emergency patients.
