Institute
Daniel Sennert (1572-1637) und Thomas Feyens (1567-1631) haben unsere heutige Vorstellung der menschlichen Seele mitgeprägt. Durch die Auffassung der Seele als „initiales organisierendes Prinzip“ (Michael, Emily: Daniel Sennert on Matter and Form. At the Juncture of the Old and the New, in: Early Science and Medicine 1997 (2/3), 272–299) schafften sie die Grundlage für die Vorstellung, dass die Seele ab Beginn des Lebens gegenwärtig ist – wenn auch ihre Zugehörigkeit zur lutheranischen (Sennert) bzw. katholischen (Feyens) Konfession zu unterschiedlichen Ausgestaltungen dieses Ansatzes führte: Traduzianismus und Kreationismus.
