This retrospective evaluation includes the files of 107 patients with a diagnosis of small cell lung cancer treated in the Nordwest-Krankenhaus Sanderbusch between 1980 and 1995. They underwent an ACO-chemotherapy, and some patients got an additional radiation-therapy. To compare these two groups epidemiologic data, consumption of tobacco, diagnostics and type of tumor were evaluated. There were found three different histological types: oat-cell, smallcell-anaplastic and intermediate type, both groups nearly showing the same frequencies. The expansion of the tumor was found out by means of Marburg classification. Patients undergoing chemotherapy alone got less cycles of chemotherapy compared to patients undergoing radio-chemotherapy. The median survival was approximately twice as high when treated with radio-chemotherapy compared to those patients treated with chemotherapy alone. The evaluation shows that patients undergoing chemotherapy and getting an additional radiation-therapy have an increased time of survival compared to those with chemotherapy alone.…
