- Naphthylisoquinoline alkaloids represent a class of pharmacologically, biosynthetically, and chemotaxonomically exciting natural products, which occur in the two phylogenetically related plant families Ancistrocladaceae and Dioncophyllaceae. These exceptional biaryl products possess promising biological activities against different pathogens, which make them a worthwhile target for isolation. This thesis deals with the phytochemical and chemotaxonomical investigation of two new species of Ancistrocladus from East Africa and Malaysia.Naphthylisoquinoline alkaloids represent a class of pharmacologically, biosynthetically, and chemotaxonomically exciting natural products, which occur in the two phylogenetically related plant families Ancistrocladaceae and Dioncophyllaceae. These exceptional biaryl products possess promising biological activities against different pathogens, which make them a worthwhile target for isolation. This thesis deals with the phytochemical and chemotaxonomical investigation of two new species of Ancistrocladus from East Africa and Malaysia. Furthermore, the leaves of the well- known liana A. heyneanus were analyzed for their alkaloid pattern for the first time. Thus, a total of ten new and five known naphthylisoquinoline alkaloids were isolated, structurally elucidated and tested for biological activity. Further aims were the stereochemical analysis of selected natural products for our cooperation partners and the development of methods for the phytochemical analysis established in our research group.…
