• This article seeks to analyse urban representation in José Cardoso Pires’s Lisboa – Livro de Bordo (1997), a book dedicated to the author’s home city Lisbon, by focusing on its prevailing nautical and maritime imagery. This imagery as well as its tendency to design Lisbon as a city-ship shall be examined with regard to spatial construction in the Livro de Bordo.
